Castrol Footkhana: Neymar Jr. v Ken Block

KenBlack FootkhanaIt ain’t anymore just about burning rubber and avoid walls, some balls have been added to the equation! 2014 FIFA World Cup star Neymar Jr. & his freestyle team take on Gymkhana king Ken Block in his 650-HP Ford Fiesta rally car in a battle between man and machine creating what they call Footkhana, a mix of football and Gymkhana. As Neymar and his freestyle teammates use their football skills to score goals, Ken and his overpowered Fiesta drifts, blasting soccer balls into the net. Well it is not as impressive as what we are use to with Ken but it is a nice and fresh new idea. Very smart move by Castrol sponsoring the match, regrouping in the same video, the YouTube phenomenon Ken Block and FIFA World Cup star Neymar Jr. & his freestyle team targeting not only football fans but car fans as well. The complete videos got more than a 8 million views in just 3 days.

Drifting with Abdo Feghali, NOT

RedBull CarPark drift[Updated] Get ready people, the most amazing event of the year, The RedBull Car Park Drift is happening this Saturday in Lebanon, at the Fouad Chehab Stadium in Jounieh. It’s a huge and pure drifting event in which finalists will be selected with regards to the amount of smoke generated by the car, its noise, its beauty and the length of the drift. Since RedBull is one of the most amazing brands I have ever encountered, they contacted me last week to let me know that I would be riding with the craziest, Guinness World Record holder (check the video below) and most famous Lebanese Rally driver, Abdo Feghali a.k.a. Dado. The tour was gonna take place during the qualifiers on Friday July 5, around the Fouad Chehab stadium in Jounieh. Like this wasn’t enough, RedBull gave me a media pass so I can take the best pictures and videos of the event. A dream that was just too good to be true.

IMG_7660Last Saturday I was partying when a discoball fell out of nowhere on my head. The discoball was 1,6 meters in diameter and fell from a distance of 7,5 meters. It not only broke 2 of my neck’s vertebrae, but also my dream of riding shotgun with Dado. I have a collar around the neck that I am not aloud to remove for the next month a half. So RedBull, I wanna first of all thank you so much for the opportunity you gave me and second of all apologies cause I won’t be able to attend the event 😦 Hope you guys enjoy it!!

DiscoRedBull

[Updated] So you might ask yourself what was the response of RedBull to that incident. The answer: A super unique, custom made DiscoRedBull!! How awesome is that?!

BMW Commercial: London 2012

M5 sandBMW have always had astonishing commercials. Recall the “Bullet Commercial” that was released less than a month ago. It was amazing, to advertise their M5 as the fastest sedan available they compared it to the Bullet of a gun. The M5 features an amazing V8 Twin turbo charged engine that was already discussed on TheAdsGarage. For the Olympics, BMW found as usual a nice idea to promote the German athletes while showing their last new born, the magnificent M5. The commercial was shot on the sands of Wales. Several episodes of top gear were filmed on their. The beach is amazing for car drifting. This commercial is simple, original and straight to the point. Enjoy! To check the previous M5 commercials you can type “M5” in the search box at the top of the page.

Ken Block Gymkhana 5: The Ultimate Playground, San Francisco.

ken block jumpDC and Ken Block present what we have all been waiting for, the one and only Gymkhana Five: Ultimate Urban Playground; San Francisco. YES this video was shot in the actual streets of San Francisco, California, YES GoPro cameras were harmed in the making of this video, YES this Ford Fiesta burns the 0-60 miles in 1.8 seconds. Well this is the world of Ken Block! Filmed over four days, this Gymkhana is the 5th of the series. Travis Pastrana an old friend of Ken’s also joined the party on his dirt bike. Personally I think it is the best Gymkhana of the series. The video combination of all these thousand of GoPros gave a very nice result.

The scenes, like on minute 3:50 were the car seems immobile and the camera is moving, are filmed thanks to the combination of several Go Pro one next to the other as illustrated in the picture. The result is that amazing footage of that flying car.

Nick ‘Apex’ Brocha and Ernie Vigil are mounted on a pair of crackling Triumph Speed Triples – built by Roaring Toyz for the sole purpose of going sideways. Over the last year their quest to find the ultimate drifting playground has led them to the rolling hills of High Plains County. The only problem is the local authorities have had enough. Enter Police Officer Dan Brockett, the only man with the muscle to keep these two in sight. His 550 horsepower Ford Mustang Cobra was built for speed and he’s got a license to use it…

Ken Block and “Gymkhana”

For those of you that are not familiar with the term, Gymkhana is an automotive sport that takes place in a parking lot, an abandoned airport, shipping port or epic 86 year old European track that requires drivers to skillfully maneuver their cars around a series of cones, slaloms, turns, bends, figure 8s and possibly a 51 degree bank using extreme acceleration braking and drifting. Similar to autocross Gymkhana courses are often complex so memorizing the course is a significant part of this type of motorsport. In an effort to take the Gymkhana concept to a new level Ken Block searched the world over to find the ultimate playground.

Ken Block (born in California) is a professional rally driver with the Monster World Rally Team. Block is also one of the co-founders and recently appointed Chief Brand Officer of DC Shoes.
