On the 12th of January, TheAdsGarage was invited to attend a roadtrip to Douma with the RenaultSport Club Lebanon. Around 20 Renault ranging from Clio RS to Megane RS passing through some special edition ones like a RedBull RB7 Megane and 2 Clio Gordini edition met up at around 8:30 am on the Jounieh highway. Organisation was epic there was a car at the beginning of the convoy and one at the end making sure no one gets lost and everyone reaches destination. Once we reached the Tannourine highway, the guys went on a hot run, unleashing all of those 265 hp included in their Megane RS and other 200hp packed in the Clio RS. You would never believe how stable that Megane is unless you ride shotgun with one of those guys. We then stopped by a small bakery to have breakfast. After a small photoshoot of those hot hatches (that you can check by clicking right here), the “President” of the Club Mr.Elias Ghanem took us on very nice rally stage in the region. The road is one of those typical, very challenging, narrow and technical mountain roads. You can easily end up down the valley in a wrecked Megane or Clio if you miss a turn. The video here below is recorded on one of these roads. Special thanks to Stefano Zakher for the video editing 🙂
The Megane RB7 I was in sounded like an angry dragon sucking in cold air and converting it into fire. The driving sensations you get in those french hatches are very impressive, augmented by the fact that they are available only in manual. Compared to the old one that looked like a steam iron, the new Megane looks good specially with that centered massive exhaust at the back. The only problem I have with french cars is that I think that they don’t age well, they are not “robust” enough. After only a couple of months of driving, you start hearing some weird squeaking here and there in the car. Thing that you would never get in a German car for example. Would that stop me from buying a Megane RS? After the experience I had during this roadtrip, F*ck no! Thank you very much for the invite guys. It was a real pleasure!
On Sunday September the 1st, TheAdsGarage met up with the UPsolute team for a roadtrip to Douma. The meeting point was the UPsolute Lebanon headquarters located just before the Volkswagen showroom on the Dawra highway. Around 30 hot hatches were reunited there, at 7am, ready to hit the streets. After some gathering pictures, we went straight to Batroun and then climbed to Douma. The road was just perfect, a great way to test our UPsoluted cars. Reaching Douma we met up with a couple of bikers who showed us what they can do. We then had breakfast and went back home. You can check all the pictures of the event by clicking here. Stay tuned the video of the event will be up very soon 🙂
The trip was UPsolutely great! I had a blast. The UPsolute Lebanon Team is doing a great job in order to try and unify all their UPsoluted transformed cars allowing them to share the knowledge and the experience they have with their cars. The good thing about UPsolute (Tuning company from Austria) is that they work on a custom map for each car and not a single map for each car model like REVO or APR (Tuning companies from US). This results in a map that is safer and more adapted to your car. UPsolute Lebanon has worked on around 200+ satisfied cars ranging from Stage1 to Stage 4, mostly VW GTI, R32 and GolfR. I advise everyone of you GTI owners to upgrade your cars, at least to stage 1, it gives around 40hp just by the click of a button. The car becomes sportier and more responsive while keeping fuel economy not very different from stock. Feel free to check the UPsolute Lebanon Facebook page for more details. Thank you very much for the invite guys! See you soon and keep up the good work!
Mercedes finally revealed the AMG version of their small A class hatchback model. What they came up with is the most powerful series production four-cylinder turbo engine in the world. Its output? 360hp and 450Nm of torque!! YES 360HP!! A 4 matic all wheel drive will make sure to transfer that power safely to the road through a 7 speed dual clutch gear box. Being an AMG car, its engine is hand built following the AMG philosophy of “one man one engine”. The beasts exhaust system is fitted with an exhaust flap that provides a striking engine sound when the throttle is open and during gear shifting. This flap makes sure that the exhaust is silent during normal, calm driving sessions and shouting out loud during more sporty and aggressive sessions.
The look of the car is unfashionable, it is simple and sexy from the outside and damn does it look luxurious on the inside! With this model Mercedes has jumped at the head of the hot hatch category, a market in which they were totally absent. The super expensive RS3 with its 2.5 liters turbocharged V5 delivering around 340 hp looks ridiculous compared to this new Merc. Even though I wasn’t a big fan of Mercedes Benz, I am really considering buying this new model in the coming years. Being a hot hatch enthusiast, the RS3 was high ranked in my list of favorite cars, it has now been outrun by this outstanding A45 AMG. The AMG team, I salute you.
