Audi S1 SportBack Quattro

Audi-S1_Sportback_2015To be honest, I don’t believe in S models when it comes to Audi. For me it is either you buy the chilling A version or the proper, sporty RS. But that S1 was an exception to the rule. As a big fan of hot hatches, it couldn’t go unnoticed. With its 231hp and 272lb-ft squeezed out of a 2.0 Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, that car, the size of a Ford Fiesta, would burn the 0-100km/h in just 5.8 seconds. It might be a couple of horses short compared to the previously released, limited edition A1 Quattro (256hp and 258lb-ft of torque) but it has more torque making the acceleration more brutal. Unlike the special edition A1, it can be ordered in several brand new Audi colors like that gorgeous Yellow Vegas. It just looks stunning with those new front Xenon headlights and led taillights and have you seen that spoiler and those 4 tail pipes?! With Audi’s Quattro and a manual gear box, that S1 must be a joy to drive. It even has 5 doors so you can take your pals for a hot climb to the mountains or for some drifting on snow.

Audi-S1_Sportback_2015 backPrice wise, with the A1 costing around $40K I would suspect the S1 to have a selling price in Lebanon of around $60K. Is it worth it for a car the size of a matchbox with the engine of a GTI? Even tough they don’t really belong to the same category, I think I would rather pay a bit more and get myself a proper MK7 GolfR (full review available right here) which is more spacious and has 300 ponies awaiting to be whipped.

Audi Superbowl 2013

Discouraged, no date on his prom night, his dad hands him the keys of his all new 2013 S3. The courage grew in the heart of the kid as he drove it to prom where he kissed the prom queen and got his ass kicked. Thus the slogan “Bravery is what defines us”. And because no super bowl spot can be without a hashtag these days, this one has #braverywins. Well I find that very lame specially for a superbowl commercial. I mean there is a TV show, “the transporter” in which a driver just drifts the 8 class all over the place to make sure that a package guests delivered on time. They could just have taken some footage from the show and it would have made a better superbowl commercial!!

Other than that, about the S6; it features a detuned version of Audi’s S8  twin-turbo 4.0 liter TFSI V8. Well maybe the engine is detuned but it delivers 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque which makes this sedan reach 100km/h in just 4.8 sec. Stunning performance and such a stunning car. Being the small sister of the S8 it has a lot of luxury materials inside the habitat like leather on the seats as well as on the steering wheel. It has adaptive air suspension for a more comfortable drive. In two words, what Audi calls “sporty elegance”.

This is what I call a beast on the snow. I mean controlling a 4.2L V8 engine
that delivers 450 hp and 317.15 lb-ft of Torque going sideways and specially on the snow, believe me is not an easy task. Well maybe it is, if you have Quattro.

A silent landscape, no talking, no commenting, just an A1 quattro going side ways on the snow. A1 quattro is actually the fastest A1 that audi produced. It has a 2.0 TFSI engine that delivers 256 hp and 258.15 lb-ft of torque which is very impressive for a car that size.

Introducing this new “Snow & Ice Driving” category with this video. I find snow drifting with a 4 wheel drive car just amazing. I tried it and believe me you all wanna try it. But when the car you are drifting in consist of an Audi (one of my favorite cars lately), 340hp, 2.5 V5, quattro, its a dream come true.
