Chevy commercial: Theophilus London Skate Boarding with a Sonic.

Sonic chevy frontTheophilius London treats the new Chevrolet Sonic like an over sized skateboard in the new Chevy “Find New Roads” commercial campaign. Theophilus London is an American rapper from Brooklyn. His song “All Around The World” from his 2011 debut album Timez Are Weird These Days plays in the commercial. His skateboard, a Chevy Sonic RS is a sportier version of the small Sonic. Sportier by its look only. No modifications have been made in the engine compartment. It is still equipped with the 1.4-liter turbocharged four cylinder 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque engine. The brakes and the suspensions have been modified for a sportier ride.

Sonic chevyI find the Sonic a good car for a teenager that is starting to drive. The car is small easy to park, has an RS badge at the back and has a light aggressive look. The commercial is really fun. Love the warning: “Sonic is not a skate. Do not attempt”. A simple trip to get some milk has been transformed into a Tony Hawk like ride around the city except that the skate is a Sonic. The “Find New Roads” slogan is well adapted to the commercial. This new chevy campaign consists of four different directors directing five commercials one for each model: the Volt, Spark, Sonic, Impala and Corvette. Looking forward!

Audi Commercial: The Ultimate Paintball Duet

The Duel

Staggering video by Audi promoting there brand new version of the RS4. This restyled version incorporates the same 4.2 liters direct-injected V-8 of the previous RS4. This time the V8 has been tweaked to now produce 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. A Quattro AWD system will be responsible to convert this power to the road. In normal driving the torque will be rear-biased at 40/60 percent. A crown-wheel center differential can adjust this ratio almost instantly between 70/30 and 15/85 according to road conditions and driver input. A special edition sport differential that can handle the full amount of torque on the rear wheels can be ordered as extra. Regarding the design, the car has a very sporty yet classy look. The 2 big rear exhaust tips are just gorgeous. They will be fitted on all the RS models.

Audi Paint ballFor this video, “Rubber Republic” fitted the two fully equipped 2013 RS4 with professional paint ball guns and a couple of GoPro cameras. (You can check the making of the video by clicking here). The output is a big mess of paint in this military hangar, to the sound of “Push it to the Limit,” by Paul Engeman. Two professional drivers, Jim Dowdall & Colin Skeaping, two of the UK’s most experienced stuntmen, were picked for this Ultimate Paintball Duet, they earned points each time they were able to hit each others car with a paint ball. (You can check an interview with them by clicking here) Will there be a Paintball Edition RS4 avant? Well as much as I would like it, I am sorry to tell you no.

Porsche Commercial: Family Reunion.

porsche cabrio

Why is Porsche advertising their brand new 911 Carrera cabriolet as a family car? Well maybe Porsche are trying to prove that the new 911 has become much more user friendly and can be driven and enjoyed by the whole family but for me the commercial is way too fake. 1) I mean ok it has two seats at the back but if you are more than 5 years old you wouldn’t fit for sure. 2) Have you ever seen a mom getting into the car and admiring it while waiting for here daughter to come? 3) (with all due respect of course) Have you ever seen a mom revving the engine in a tunnel to enjoy it’s sound? 4) Since when has a child been aloud to put the roof down in his parents brand new Porsche cabrio? 5) I guess this commercial is a good way for a husband to convince his wife to buy a Porsche. Other than that, the Carrera looks and sounds amazing. It’s 3.8 liters flat-six engine delivers 400 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. There is an amazing button that you can add as an option in your Porsche, a magical button that will “release” the exhaust. The sound of the car becomes 😮

Mini Commercial: Driving Dog

Driving DogWell this is not exactly a MINI commercial, it is a SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) advertising campaign in collaboration with MINI. The mission of this association is to “encourage the humane treatment of all animals and to prevent cruelty being inflicted upon them”. The campaign is superb and very well executed. Three dogs were chosen according to their size and behavior to become “driving dogs”. After only a few weeks of training, the three dogs were up to the task!

Porsche commercial: 911 GT3 Cup

GT3 cupIntroducing the new 911 GT3 Cup. This Porsche race car is powered by a 3.8 liter V6 delivering 450 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. Being a race car, this 911 went through the usual, weight removal, aerodynamics added procedure. The commercial is really nice as the dream of a little kid becomes reality when he grew older. The sentence that appears in the commercial “you cannot change a character, you can only sharpen it” describes very well Porsche’s philosophy. They always tend to have very similar models but with little modifications here and there.

Jaguar Commercial: The XFR-S

jag wildJag has gone wild this time. Presenting, the fastest Jag sedan car ever made, the XFR-S. This upgraded version of the XFR features a 5.0 liters supercharged V8 engine that delivers 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar claims that even though the XFR-S has 40 more horses than the XFR, it will have the same fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The new beast features, obviously, some new aerodynamics parts and carbon fiber additions here and there in order to make the car lighter and stick more to the ground. For the commercial, there is not much to be said, just listen to that large V8 roaring in the mountains!

Fiat 500 Abarth Commercial: Topless

Abarth toplessReally nice and refreshing ad by Fiat promoting there topless, cabrio version of there 500 Abarth. The idea is funny and the implementation is done really well. Regarding the Abarth itself, I have included a full review of it in my previous articles. I love these kind of cabrio cars. If I am not mistaking it was Citroen that started this idea with there 2CV (deux cheveaux) model of 1948. It was a really good idea at the time because first of all it is simple, it reduced the weight of the car and it is easy to implement which is still the case for the new Abarth 500 cabrio model.

Porsche commercial: Cayman 2013

Cayman S 2013This is the commercial of the brand new freshly backed Porsche Cayman and Cayman S that were released at the LA motor show a few days ago. Look wise, the new Cayman is very similar to the Boxster 2013. Well we are use to that with Porsche. They always have this type of “evolution” instead of “revolution” strategy. The 2nd generation Cayman will be available in two engines. The entry model is able to achieve a 0-100 in 5.6 sec thanks to its 2.7 liters flat-six engine delivering 271hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. The Cayman S will be equipped with a 3.4 liters flat-six engine delivering 321hp and 273 lb-ft of torque allowing it to burn the 0-100 in 4.9 sec. Theses new models have lost around 70kg compared to the first generation Cayman models. This has been mainly achieved thanks to the use of aluminum in the making of the body and a bigger glass on the roof top. I really love the way the rear spoiler is sort of melted into the car. Regarding the commercial there is nothing special to be mentioned it is one of those “car introduction” commercial showing a car cruising on different streets.
